Caspar René Hirschfeld
born in 1965 in Wernigerode;
1982 - 87 studies at the Academy of Music "Carl-Maria von Weber" Dresden. Main topics: composition (with Professor Udo Zimmermann and Professor Wilfried Krätzschmar), violin (with Christian Redder)
Subsidiaries: piano and conducting;
1987 - 89 Sholarship as a "Master's pupil" with Prof. Udo Zimmermann;
studies of dance and dance-theory; until 1995 also working as a dancer for Modern Dance at theatre festivals, music festivals and local theatres;
several national and international awards as a composer, including the "Carl-Maria von Weber prize" for ballet-music, the "Hanns-Eisler - prize" for orcherstra music and the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy - sholarship", Göttingen Award for Guitar Compositions 2000.
1987 - 94 tutor at the music academies in Dresden and Berlin.
Works have been performed (among other places) at: Salzburg Festival, Dresden Music Festival, Staatsoper Unter den Linden (Berlin), Musikbiennale Berlin, Dresden Festival of Contemporary Music, Musée d'Art Moderne de la ville Paris, Stora Teatern Göteborg, Staatsoper Dresden, Opera Leipzig, Opera Bonn, Metechi Palace Tbilissi, Rustavelli-Theatre Tbilissi, Athenaeum Bukarest, deSingel Antwerpen, Athens, Zurich, Basle, Bangkok, Odessa and broadcasted in several radio-stations including ORF, Schweitzer Radio, Radio Netherlands, Deutschlandradio.
Currently living as a freelance composer, pianist and conductor in Berlin.
